Saturday 2nd June 2012 – 56 miles
Competitors joining the race at this stage, to compete in The Severn Path Ultra, must arrive for registration and equipment checks between 5.00am and 7.00am. Complimentary breakfast for the ‘7’competitors will be available between 6.00am and 7.00am. Race start for all competitors is 8.00am.
Meandering through Shrewsbury the course is flat and hugs the river until you cross a bridge at Atcham where the path remains away from the Severn until briefly touching at Cressage and then again at Buildwas. Ironbridge, Jackfield and Coalport, all producing stunning scenery and landmarks. The route continues to hug the Severn through Apley Forge, Bridgnorth, Hampton, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Stourport, finally reaching Holt Castle for Camp-Three, the conclusion of The Severn Path Ultra, where you receive your finishers’ medals and t-shirts. Continuing Competitors can give these to the race organiser & collect later, and can then take a well earned rest and try to recuperate for the followings day’s Stage 4 race.
Hot food will be supplied with unlimited free water and hot drinks. Medical assistance will be available at each camp-site to assist with care of feet and advise on individual fitness levels for those who intend proceeding with the ‘7’ race. It is anticipated that this route will also benefit from a minimum of six check-points; all of which will provide water and some nutrition.
